DIY Retro Style Concession Trailer Build
« on: November 09, 2013, 03:46:42 PM »

Brought this home Friday.

6'x10' w/ all aluminum skin, serves out double doors in the back, 50's chrome bumper, 'shore power' style wiring for power inside and out, top vent, 2 double louvered vent windows on each side, wood paneled walls / roof on the inside, 3 leveling stands, and a 'parking brake' that engages by hand when the trailer is parked.

I think I'm gonna clean and polish it 'brite' to a chrome like airstream finish / shine, add ½ moon hubcaps, red rims, and wide white walls for a rat rod style vibe.

And then who knows, this is my 1st trailer and an upgrade for me, so I'm super excited to get started.

(Any DIY trailer builders out there, (or anyone), who has any hints, suggestions, tips, or tricks ~ I'm all ears.)

Thanks!

~ Red

That is sexy Red.  That would make a great looking nostalgic food trailer.  :)

Thanks Ben!

(I'm really looking forward to this build and giving this trailer a unique look. And I'll try and keep the pictures and updates coming as it shapes up.)

(The inside is stripped...and nothing says out with old and in with the new...than tearing out cardboard insulation and fake wood panel walls!)

Hotdog Red,
I'd love to see any updates if the weather has allowed you to keep working on your project. That's a nice little trailer - what a great find! I wish you well in your remodeling. Looks like a great new addition for your business in the spring. Will it change your menu, or just give you a roof over your head?

Thanks!

We were hit pretty hard during the storms, (and now with holiday season commitments), so the remodel is waiting until we can free the trailer from the ice / snow and move it indoors.

This trailer will be the beginning of a new concept and marketing push for the business, and it will change everything we do, including the menu. (Where we're at trailers are given considerably more leeway than carts as far as what you can do and serve, so we're really looking forward to this next step!)

 Red,

I'm glad that you have the skills and are able to remodel the trailer to fit your needs and your plans. That's an exciting time for your business! I'm looking forward to that day as well, but happily enjoying my cart for now. You've taken on a huge project there! I know that you'll be an inspiration to us in the spring when you share what you've done.
Have a safe and happy holiday - Merry Christmas!  Pepper

I'd love to see the finished product, I know this is an old thread and digging these things out is generally unfruitful.

But I'm an optimist in the end.
