Well, I was offered Square Stock before it went public and did not buy it (my error), now people are coming out with this thing called Bit Coins which has been around for a few year and it looks like I am not getting on the boat for this one.  I have made a few mistakes over the years with what I call "fad stuff" but for the most part do real well.  I guess I will stick with my gold and old stocks.  I also feel that if I told somebody down here in the deep south that I take "Bit Coins" they would look at me and say " Does that mean you have a sale on so I can get my hot dog cheaper"?  Good!! Good!!

Google L6 Hot Water Heater and you will find what you are looking for, if you need a pump you can look at and will find a pump that works on DC (Battery).  The L6 does required 2 D Batteries and Propane fuel and the pump.  Hope this helps

Hot Dog Vendors / Cart Give Away
« on: January 03, 2018, 05:37:49 AM »
Well last night a friend of mine gave away a another New Hot Dog Cart, "Cash Cow".  Ben has done this every year since I can remember.  The individual (Chef Jose) that won has been vending for about a year or so without a cart or anything, just a table setup.  Well he is a trained chef but that is not required to cook hot dogs or to be a vendor.  I have been watching his progress for awhile because I like it when people go out and just do it with just what they have.  You don't have to have all the fancy stuff to do this or to start this.  I even started with a very small investment and that is one of the things I told myself when I started; "What will I be out if it does not work but if it does work what will I have?"  I say all of that to say, this business is not for everyone.   What we do is work.  You have to make a plan, plan the work and then work the plan.  I have said that for years and it has not changed.  Good!! Good!!

It is, I have a Big Dog and attaching a flag to it is impossible, first it would be in the way of your customers and second even with my cart set up with a table directing people to the right side I still have people that come up on the left side.  The receiver that I was talking about is on your vehicle not the cart, the Big Dog Hitch comes off when you are serving/setup.  You also have the issue of the umbrella which would be in the way too, not to say anything about the wind.  Advertising signs, Flags, etc. etc all are great but if your customer can not get to you, they can't be served.  My idea would be to mount the flag on your parked truck and wait for the city or town to tell you no, the most you would be out would be about $100 for the flag and tell them that you are sorry but the truck is part of my cart operation, I just did not know..

Seems to me that the guy is taking all the chances but not being a trusting person I would make sure I did not sign something that would put me out on the street with no where to live.  I don't get the part of financing a cart and having payments of $300. per month to me that was your first bad choice.  We have been teaching people for years to start small, buy a used cart, build your own, limit your stock and supplies.  Normally I have found that if it sounds too good to be true it is.  My other question would be why would they want to give me all of this when they could get anyone to do it for them.  Just what I think, not trying to be mean.

The only way this can be done is to attach the flag to your truck receiver, this way it is out of the way of your customers, just what I think.

I also assume that you have the Serve Safe requirement up there.  I know it is not really a law but a good training tool for people that need guide lines in food safety.

As we come to the end of 2017 we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.  2017 for Duggs Doggs has been a year of change and in that change we have exceeded all past years in sales and still have remained part time and I say that because we have only worked the cart 95 days out of the year included catering, special events, festivals, street locations, etc. etc.  I know that does not seem like a lot but when we started this ride it was planned to be once or twice a month that we were going to vend.  Now I am up to 7.92 days per month and I am retired.  Who knew this would happen, not me.

Now for 2018 I am going to attempt to stay at the same level of vending and maybe a little less.  I really don't know how because i am now booking events for December 2018.

The funny change is I am really retired now, strange as it sounds. Good!! Good!!

Thank you and we are all glad that you had a Good!! Good!! year.  Maybe you can add to your plan next year a way to get indoor events when it gets bad weather, just a little idea.  I am in the deep south so for the most part the weather is not too bad down here.  I normally have in my plan to slow down in December and January but it seem this year that may not happen.  Already booked for 3 events in January and have two more in December.  Always make it fun.  Duggs Doggs Good!! Good!!
